Trasimeno is an enchanting lake immersed in history and nature that stretches between the Umbrian hills and the Tuscan valleys. A bicycle ride along the lake perimeter is one of the best ways to enjoy its beauty; cycling partly on an unpaved path, partly on ordinary road, you'll cross through the Lake Trasimeno Regional Park and some of the most charming towns overlooking Lake Trasimeno (Borgo di Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno, and San Feliciano). In the Regional Park, the Oasi La Valle, an ideal nesting and migration area for many bird species, is a perfect place for birdwatching and learning more in the permanent exhibition located in the nearby Visitors' Centre. The lake is also populated by a very wide variety of amphibians, fish, and reptiles, a marvellous natural ecosystem worth exploring for nature lovers. The Trasimeno area is also a trekker's paradise: its many trails lead walkers of all abilities through leafy woods and historic towns.
